IEC 60079-14 requires that for cables directly entering an enclosure greater than 2 liters and with a source of ignition need to be sealed in some manner. Section 10.4.2 allows compound sealed cable glands.
My question is, is a compound sealed gland required for a single core cable? Seems to me a non-compound gland should be fine, as allowed by the words "other equivalent sealing arrangements". The compound serves no purpose with a single core cable.
Any comments? Or better, relevant experience?
