Can anyone point me in the direction of a good text book that covers cable installation methods.

Your best bet is Cable companies. Okonite has ( or did have) a small loose leaf book cal, bled The Cable Installation Manual". No mention of it on their website ttahtI can find, but if you call your local rep you may be able to get one.
Southwire publishes a "Power Cable Manual" that is good but they now charge for it. If you buy lots of cable or know the local Southwire peddler you may be able to get one free.

There is some good information in the back of the General Cable Industrial Catalog.

American Polywater has lots of technical papers on cable pulling.
you can also spring for the money and buy books such as the Lineman and Cablemans Handbook.

The Lineman's and Cableman's Handbook, Eighth Edition (there may be a later edition), E.B. Kurtz and T.M. Shoemaker, Mcgraw-Hill, Inc., 1992.
