Hi,

I'm conducting a CAD Analysis between ProE & NX. From what I've learned thus far, NX & ProE are quite comparable, although I am still not highly familiar with ProE. I'm primarily a NS Designer.
I’m curious to know the Pros & Cons between these two CAD applications. I’m particularly interested to learn your views on:
1) Costs between these 2 applications
• I’ve been told that ProE can cost as little as $5K, whereas NX can cost up to $25K. I’m not sure if this is for the initial start-up CAD application or for (floating) licenses. Regardless, I find this hard to believe that there is a significant cost difference.

2) Functionalities & Capabilities between the two CAD applications
• What are your views on this?

3) What’s the cost for Style & how useful is it?

As mentioned, I’m primarily a NX designer & I’m assisting the company I work for to determine if we become a ProE or NX design center. The company’s IT personnel is pushing ProE because it supposedly collaborates with Windchill better & significantly less.

Thanks for the assistance….

While Pro/E can be had for under $5k, it goes up a lot if you want all the bells and whistles. You are really going to have to sit down with a VAR and spell out all your requirements to be able to make an apples to apples comparison.

One think to keep in mind is that not all seats have to have the same functionality. The basic seat of Pro/E has the functions you need 90 percent of the time. For the other 10 percent you can have a couple of seats (depending on the size of your organization) with the full functionality you need. What other factors are involved in your decision? Do your customers want files in Pro/E or NX? Do the vendors you work with prefer one of the other? Do you have a large file base in one or the other? Where I work, the customer dictates what system the work is done in (mostly UG with some Pro/E).
