I've had problems with hatch covering passing lines in Autocad. With normal linework, the darker line always prevails with two or more lines are on top of each other. However, this doesn't always happen with hatch.

Is there a setting to ensure that a darker line passing thru hatch will always show up and not be covered by the hatch?

One other option, not sure which autocad version they added it in, related to what CarlB listed above...

In the Hatch dialogue box, there is an option to set the draw order as it hatches, including, "Do Not Assign" "Send to Back" "Bring to Front" etc.

If it is hatched with "send to back" shouldn't ever be an issue, even if it's the newest object in the drawing..... (shouldn't being the word, there have been a couple hiccups with hatching that we've never gotten resolved.)

...and depending on your ACAD version, you can use a lisp or a macro, which sends all hatches back.
Carl, that's your turn.
