Hi

I've just recently started to use CAESAR II for preforming piping stress analysis, and was wondering i someone could help me with problem that i have. I don't know how to preform static seismic load modelling with my piping (how to impose a seismic load on piping element and later on build a seismic load case for the piping). What are the input steps which i have to undertake to do this.

By the way, I've read the C2 technical reference manual, and user guide also, but still don't know how to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance

To perform a static seismic analysis you will need to define a ground acceleration in three planes and input these to Caesar as 'g' loads on the first element. Then ensure that the load cases include U1, U2, U3 and off you go.

This is a very basic evaluation of a seismic load. Dynamic response spectra analysis is far superior.

Thnx for the answer.

I've managed somehow to resolve my problem with your help, but now i have a new one. CII shows in my stress reports that the allowable stress is 0, and there is a line in a report that says no code check stress processed.

Any idea what is wrong?

Which load case report gives you zero allowable ?

If you are using B31.3, you should be aware that there is no mandatory allowable stress for OPE cases, and thus no stress check.

If you have defined a load case as SUS, OCC or EXP you should have allowable and %allowable published ,in addition to a summary of stresses.

Hi C2it,

Yes you are completely right, there is no mandatory allowable stress for operating cases that i have, and that's why i get no results in the report.

By the way, do you know maybe how to solve tehnical issue that i have with Caesar. I'm doing strees calculations on pipes which are created in AVEVA PDMS 12.0, and when i prepare neutral file and import pipes into Caesar, i get pipes with broken geometry because Caesar doesn't recognize bends. I don't know if maybe the interface that PDMS uses for exporting pipes to Caesar has some bugs.

Data transfer from PDMS to Caesar has never been too great. Possibly because the largest competitor to PDMS is Intergraph's PDS / Smartplant ... and Integraph happen to own Caesar II.
