How to calculate the volume of a bottle or other non uniform cavity volume for proe model ?

create a solid that represents the inside of the bottle using the inside surface of your model ( use geom then revolve 360... ). Then do an analysis on the volume of the "dummy" solid. That will give you your answer. You can also vary the height of the neck to get the exact height of the liquid. Advanced method would be using the behaviour modelling. Set up volume as a parameter then your bottle design will be exact.

Thankyou man, ur method can be work with uniform bottle . But if i have a non uniform cross section cavity such as a flat bottle, how i gonna do it ?

And can u explain more about the behavior moddlling method ? can i do it with normal proe , or do i need extra module from ptc ?

Well uniform or not, you can use the surface data (quilts) to create your solid.

Behavioural modeling... extra $$$. You need to incorporate this method from the get go.

You will get your answer faster with the first technique
 
Under analysis toolbar > model analysis, then change type to mass properties > calculate.

Did you create the innver volume of your bottle?
 
You can quickly achieve the inner volume by subtracting one model from another in assembly mode this eliminates having to pick all the surfaces of a complex interior design. This functionality is often used in mold design. If you need a step by step on this contact me and I will e-mail it to you.

It will be very nice of u to show me the way.

For the previous one using model analysis ,it onli get the volume of the bottle solid model, i actually want to know about the cavity volume.

O.K....
Since I don't know what your working on, I will assume it is a complex bottle shape like a Coke bottle.
1.) The first thing you must do is create 2 models. The first model your existing hollow bottle and a second bottle exactly the same as the first but with the interior filled in (not hollow). Use the "save as" function to achieve this quickly.

2.) Next create an assembly. Assemble both bottles (the filled and the hollow) one on top of each other. Since the models are save as models accepting the default for assembly constraints will work fine.

3.) In the assembly just created pick - Component - Adv Utils - Cut Out

4.) Pro will prompt you to select the model to perform the Cut Out process to. Use Query select to select the 2nd bottle (the solid one). You must hit done select because you can pick more than one model.

5.) Pro will now prompt you for the reference parts for cut out process select the 1st bottle (the hollow one). Then done select.

6.) The cut out has now been performed. If you now look inside the 2nd bottle file (the solid one) you will notice the cut out feature in your model tree. You will also notice that you are left with the internal solid of the bottle.

7.) Run your mass props in this file to find your volume.

8.) Punch out for day and have a beer, you've done your job.
 
I work In plastic bottle design, and creating a hollow model is a time consuming and usually not needed. For calculating internal volume (brimfull) our method is to determine the weight of the bottle material, and then using the material density calculate the material volume. Its then a simple matter of subtracting that volume from you model mass properties. For measuring volume at a specific fill point you usualy need to measure or estimate the material weight under that point then use a datum plane and one sided volume to calculate the volume as above.

This method hardly uses Pro/E's capabilities, but can usually be done faster than any other approach I have tried
