Hi All,

I need some calculation related water treatment.
Simple question, how many (kg) KCL 95% to make solution in 1000 litre water to achieve TDS 45000ppm ?
Lets say TDS water before mixing is 150ppm
Thank you

Ignore the water TDS as it is not consequential. 45000 ppm is the same as 4.5% or as 45000 mg/L. 1 liter of water = 1,000 g = 1,000,000 mg.

45000 mg/L = mass of solute/ mass of solvent

mass of solute (g) = 45000 mg/L X 1000 g - 45000 mg = .045 kg

If the KCl is 95% concentration, you need .045kg/.95 or .047 kg.
