HI,
What would be a quick way to verify the max. allowable stress in tension? The scenario is the following: A 3 in OD mechanical tubing joined to a 1 in thick plate, if I choose to have a 3/8 fillet weld all around the tube, what would be the max. allowable stress that this weld could tak?, assuming that the 1 in thick plate Yield Strength is 100000 PSI and the Mech. Tube YS is 70000 PSI?
You help will be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
