calculating square feet in Architectural Desktop Release 2 1

how do i calculate square feet of a house plan in AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2? or cant u do that?

yea freeze all layers except the outline of a house make sure the ouline is a closed poly linne and use the area command

if you are using architectural units try this macro cause there is a problem with calculating feet^2 in autocad

^C^C-boundary;a;i;y;;\;area;o;l;erase;last;;cal;(getvar (area))/144;

it will fix your problem returns the area in square feet on the command line

You can use associate hatch , type area and click in the hatch , it will give you the square footage

Use Area command and click all corner points indicating the extend of building autocad will indicate the included area with in the points selected. If your drawing is in foot, the area will be in square feet. Other wise you have to multiply that with appropriate factor.
