Does anyone have an accurate methodology for calculating the steam loss through a leaking PSV. I'm aware of the method using the length of steam plume where loss (kg/hr)= 2.8*6^L, but this is hardle an accurate method. Any other suggestions much appreciated.

Jimmy - there's no accurate way to do that.

If you have any significan leakage through a steam PSV, or any other type valve, the only thing you can know for sure is that it will progressively get worse. Steam leaks slowly cut away at the valve seat.

Plan to pull the PSV for repair.
