Dear everyone,

I am taking the PED Ext. C training course and one of the questions is:
For the calculation of a head made with only one part, it shall be taken into account:
a) the thickness of crown radius zone only;
b) the thickness of knuckle radius zone only;
c) of the biggest thickness of the 2 above;
d) the thickness of the shell.

I wonder what is that only part of a head? How does it look like?
I have looked at the ASME VIII div.1 and EN 13445-3 with no success unless I missed that.

Any idea? Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Best regards,
Klara

Hi Klara Sophi,

I think the intention was to ask: "For the calculation of a head made from a single plate (not an assembly of plates welded together, following shall be taken into account:".

Hi FMJalink,

Thanks a lot [dazed]! Your comment made the question clear, it really helped. Based on that, I gave the answer c) and it was correct!

Brg,
Klara
