Hi,
I am trying to calculate stresses and strains in the thin film deposited on substrate by ABAQUS.

How can I calculate stresses and strains while keeping the temperature of the body constant and under zero external load?

I am getting results by varying the temperature but not when the temperature is constant.

Thanks in advance

There are no stresses for a constant temperature, unless the body is restrained to prevent expansion from some relative temperature.

With creep the strain changes with time, temperature, and stress. Different materials will change at different rates for a constant temperature, and hence stresses will develop.

Hi Corus,
Thanks for the reply but how can I simulate this with ABAQUS?

And also could you please tell me that how can I get coherency strain energy due to the difference in the coating and substrate material properties like lattice parameters, young's modulus, poison's ratio, coefficient of thermal expansion without external load and with constant temperature(e.g.500 degree C)?

And is it possible to give lattice parameters values in ABAQUS? if yes, how because I was not able.

A research article is attached in which I have highlighted the portion where the author mentioned about the calculation of strain using lattice parameters.

Thanks in advance

If I were you I'd write to the author of the paper. I've found that they are over the moon that someone has took an interest in their work and are generally only too happy to help.

Hi Corus,
Thanks for the suggestion but I have already written to the author and there is no response thatswhy I am here to get some help.

I recently started working with ABAQUS and not a expert like you.

So, if you can help me regarding this, it will be appreciable.

Thanks in advance
