Hello,

I am looking for an approved method to calculate induced current on a metallic armour.

Fiber optic cable is buried in the same trench as power cable (230kV cable) - the distance is about 1ft. The fiber optic cable has armouring (steel wires). I am looking for a IEEE standard or method to calculate induced circulating currents on a fiber optic shield (shield is grounded both ends). Also; to perform calcs to determine standing voltage of one end (if one end is grounded).

thanks.

In my opinion, the study of EPRI EL-904-V1/V2 for overhead line influence on embedded gas pipe line may help in a way. See:

an IEEE 575-2014 version is available now, pretty much detailed and well-described!
