Dear all,

hello my name aditia, i'm a new about calculation based on IEC 60287.

now i try to calculate the T1 (thermal resistance between conductor and sheath )

the question is :

if 1 have cable CU/XLPE/PVC 3x10mm2/ round/compact conductor , which equation should be used ?

is sub 2.1.1.2 belted cables or 2.1.1.2.3 three belted cables with circular conductors ?

and how about core > 3core ? the iec 60287-2-1 only mention till 3 core.

thanks in advance for yours respone.

best regards
aditia

The 2.1.1.2 CH. is a general chapter containing 4 sub chapters.Your cable is three-cores belted cable then
the calculation will be according to 2.1.1.2.3 [for 3 circular cores belted cable]. There is not any indication for 4 cores cable, indeed.
Usually I use the same formula as for 3 cores cable or I use T1 as for single core and I add a T2 for the jacket.
In IEEE 835 is taken the second possibility[T1+T2].
Except the case of the exposed cable in free air in all other cases T1 and T2 are small compared with T3 and T4.
