Is there an ASTM standard for verifying the readings from an indicator gauge?

Indicator of what?
This is an issue of calibration and traceability.

For some devices there are standards for calibration methods. For most you are allowed to write your own, as long as you can prove that it works.

Manage it or it will manage you.

EdStainless,

The indicator gauges I am talking about are dial or digital deflection indicators with required accuracy of both 0.0001 and 0.001 inch.

I should also throw in dial calipers. We need to be accurate to 0.001 inch for other ASTM methods.

I believe US standard accuracy grades and tolerances for pressure gauges are set forth by ASME B40.100-1998:

Pressure Gauges and Gauge Attachments
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
