California Facing Largest Power Outages In Its History
"the unexpected loss of a 470-megawatt (MW) power plant, and loss of nearly 1,000 MW of wind power"

Didn't nearly the same thing occur in the UK last year?

UK power outage 9 August 2019
"Just before 5pm, a technical issue at RWE’s Little Barford gas-fired power station caused it to go offline, resulting in the loss of 324MW of generation capacity. A few minutes later, Orsted’s Hornsea offshore wind farm also went offline, with a loss of up to 812MW." Aug 9th, 2019.

Are the ISO's really to blame here?

Want my opinion? We need 300 new melt down proof nuclear generating stations in the United States.

Keep an eye on this site. It's fascinating!

Oh, and click supply and peruse the various energy sources and their percentages.

It's pretty amazing to see how much solar CA uses.

and.. coal. LOL

Does anyone know if the reported solar includes everyone's roof or just commercial solar plants?

IF I'm reading that right, solar is 10% of the 10% of renewables, or about 1%. I do like how they put renewable and solar at the top of the lists so it gets subconsciously associated as being the best.

The last I read about it, California was importing at least as much coal power as the in-state solar generation. Half the power coming from natural gas isn't that green either.

Here's where we stand.

The province seems reasonably green with the yearly output at 61% nuclear and 25% hydro. We have A LOT of natural gas heat here though.

Well, now solar is 82% of renewables and renewables is over a 1/4 of the total demand. Today a lot of the state is covered in a high haze as normally renewables is ~30%.

Is nuk green? We only have a measly 5% nuclear.. :/
