Hey All,

I'm running NX7.5.2 on XP Pro with the full Mach package.

I'm having trouble because I am trying to add a facing operation, but it is generating paths like a turning operation.

I'm pretty sure my geometries are correct, and if I run the cut as a single pass, I get the pass I want, but taking off way too much material.

The picture is the passes running like a turn operation.

Any advice would be good.

Thanks in advance

For a facing operation set your level angle / cut angle to 270 deg and decrease the step over.

Thanks John,

When I tried that originally, it said that it couldn't detect the cut area.

Should I try 90deg instead and see if that works?

It has a lot to do with the tool orientation and the stock. You may also need to define a start point so the system knows whic side of the spindle center line you on.

From the cut area dialog you can preview the cut region. Do you have any containment defined?

Yes,

I have a containment geometry within an avoidance geometry so it has start points.

I thought about trying the 270deg cut again using only the avoidance only or even just the workpiece and assigning a start point.

John,

I changed the angle to 90 and it was working very well.

Thanks for all your help!!
