I guess I didn't express my question correctly. When I change the cams in my engine to cams of different timing events , is there some way of predicting the performance . The intake and exhaust camshaft centerlines are independently variable, thus the "split overlap" is also variable. Time on the dyno is $ and if there is a formula about---
Question # 2 ---Two engines, one @ 12.0/1 ratio and one @14.5/1 ratio. Given the same quality of fuel for each, can overlap be used as a method of controling combustion pressure without substantially altering individual cam timing ? I know this is "have your cake and eat it too" ,and is quite possibly not achievable, but I must explore all avenues available.
