Can a contractor use a WPS used on a different project/production

I have a contractor that wants to use an previously approved WPS he used with our company on a recent project because the pipe sizes are similar. The contract weld code is ASME B31.12 which follows the AWS.

My question is; is this OK and acceptable following the code?

As long as the WPS falls within the range of a qualified PQR which meets the requirements of B31.12, yes, provided the requirements of GR-3.2.3 are met.

If it was previously approved why would it not be now ?
If the new pipework complies with all the variables (essential and non essential) of the original approved WPS then you are good to go.

Yes. A qualified WPS can be used for multiple projects over a prolonged period of time as long as it meets contract and Code for the work performed.

I can think of a couple of reasons why a WPS that was approved for a previous project might not be appropriate for a current project, post weld heat treatment or notch toughness. The WPS is not qualified for either PWHT or notch toughness and the new project has requirements for either.
