I was wondering if autocad can convert a PDF file to a DXF file.

I'm tring to run a glass cutting machine and with the possibility of saving files to a DXF will be most cost effective for our company. Can any one help?

Do I need a new program???

Thanks

My understanding is that PDF files by nature and design are READ only. In other words - no one can modify them and thats what makes them "SAFE". Adobe sells software that allows markup of files - but not a translator that I am aware of. Check w/ Adobe.

That said - there are probably programs that may be able to do what you want. Check
OR ask the owner of the PDF file to give you a .DXF file

Thanks! Well I guess I need to be more specfic, we generate our own drawings here with autocad. After the fact, can we save them as a DXF? I searched the "SAVE AS FONT TYPE" section without any luck.

Is there some sort of program i'll have to download to be able to do this?

In AutoCAD, "FILE/SAVE AS". Change file type to DXF.

Can an Auto-Vue program save a file in a DXF format with out first having to open AutoCAD?

No, TrueView can't save anything. But yes, there is a pdf2dxf program on the market. Costs you 180 bucks. I haven't used it, but you can get a free trial.

When in ACAD, goto Tools>Option>Open and Save folder> File Save> Save As and select .DXF . If you want to save that particular setting use the Profiles folder in that same Option dialog box.

If you are using a "newer" version of AutoCAD, you can also use the Export command under the File pull-down. It will allow you to export back to a R-12 dxf.

just type dxfout at the command prompt - this has worked since version 2.1
