I'm production supervisor with over 10 years with the Oil&Gas production sector. I've never seen that someone in companies where I've been working used simulation soft as HYSYS and etc. I had possibility and I studied Chemcad. Now I can study other soft.
How do you think, is these soft can help me in the future or I only lost my time.

while not having firsthand knowledge or skills of using HYSIS, i have witness firsthand the outstanding results of skilled engineers using HYSIS.

modeling cooling system on internal combustion engine; thus proving an undersized turbo after cooler. modeling/design data for gas processing plants (many plants), modeling and confirming oil-flooded gas compressor cooling requirements, etc. are some cases that come to mind.

when i first inquired about HYSIS, i was told that that software package replaced several chem process engr's plus some mathematicians. HYSIS in the hands of a skilled & knowledgable engr can be beneficial and rewarding in a valued market. do your homework up front before purchasing though.

good luck!

I think it all depends on where you are headed. HYSYS, being a simulation program, is intended to be used by a design-related engineer.

I'm not sure how it fits in with production supervision.
