Can I delete standard files after added them?

I have downloaded some standard parts from internet, they are some bolts & nuts & dowels, washers.

then I used the "Add my parts wizard" in the toolbox of solidworks added all of them.

Can I delete the files that I just downloaded from internet as I already 'added' them in Solidworks?

I don't know how Solidworks 'absorbs' data(standard parts) from outside.

This might be a stupid question but I never use the toolbox before. I need someone's help!

I am not sure if you can or not but to find out just move them to another folder or rename them and see if it causes problems, if it does put them back and name them to the origrinal name.

Adding parts to your Toolbox wizard will add database information to the Toolbox database that will track the location of the added parts. Parts are not actually stored in Toolbox itself just reference links.

Organization and location of the added is files are up to the organizational discretion of the user. Moving or renaming files will disrupt links in the same manner as referenced files with SolidWorks.

You can easily edit your reference information if you do rename or re-organize your added parts. In the Toolbox pull-down menu select Browser Configuration, and pick the Browser tab. Navigate to the desired catalog, chapter, page and catalog document.

From here you will see that you can enable, disable, delete and browse the location of an added part. Your corrections can be made here.

The controlling database file is in the data folder for Toolbox - i.e. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Solidworks Data\lang\English\SWBrowser.mdb

I wouldn't suggest venturing into that file unless you understand Microsoft Access and it's databases. Otherwise you could do some real damage to your Toolbox database.
