I know it's the interoperability data interface, which allows you to export IDI files that can be viewed with viewers, but can they be brought back into I-DEAS?

I'm just a novice I-DEAS user, and someone sent me some .idi files that I'd like to open. If not I-DEAS, are there any free viewers available for download?

TIA

I don't think it's possible to import an idi file into I-Deas directly.
As a workaround you could always convert the idi to a jt file using the iditojt.exe located in the gif directory. (you will need to run this in an I-deas command prompt).
Then import the JT into I-Deas by adding to an assembly and unprune to get the surface data.

Thanks, xtocobofc. Do you happen to know the exact command that needs to be entered?

Sorry my mistake, please ignore the last post. The best way is to use a viewer. (sorry not sure where to get one from. There were a couple on a google search).
