Can an intermediate beams be placed across the length of a 65 by 55 foot two storey house as opposed to the breadth? Would this make anteroposterior movement of the building more likely? Or Does the relatively square nature the house negate need for positioning of intermediate beams across the breadth of the building?

Please excuse me I am a medical doctor not a structural engineer.

Do you think you can diagnose a patient by knowing he is 7' tall only? I don't think a simple yes, or no, answer will serve you any good. More information, please.

Retired13 is right, more information will help us develop a better response.

It is entirely possible to run the intermediate beams in either direction. In order for these beams to run the long direction, they will likely need to be larger and/or heavier (and typically by more than the simple ratio of 65/55=118%). But it's possible.
