NX cannot directly open a native Inventor file. You will need to use one of the common neutral translation schemes, such as STEP or IGES, or more likely, since Inventor is a product of AutoDesk, DXF or DWG. While I can't say whether Inventor can actually output STEP or IGES files, I would be shocked if it couldn't export a DXF/DWG file.
