Hi
We have a Siemens Scada system, 2 servers, 1 process historian. We intend to renew this part as we are having some issues with 1 server. It was renewed in 2015 and previous system installed in 2007.
We have 2 power plants exporting to national grid.
We belong to an international group which has installed the Emerson scada system on other similar power plants and they are satisfied.
Can we operate the plants with Emerson scada/server system connected to Siemens PLC 400? Has someone done this before? Or should we replaced all PLCs, IO cards Siemens with new Emerson PLCs? Thank you

That should be possible with the correct protocol licenses and perhaps some protocol conversion. Our generation group has standardized on Emerson Ovation DCS and is currently in the process of integrating within the fleet.

One plant for example is GE and uses GE DCS. As of now, we integrate Ovation via DNP protocol to talk with GE, while still allowing the GE to control most major processes. New devices, such as protection relays are connected directly to Ovation as they are changed out for lifecycle purposes. You may need to find a different protocol that works with your system.
