Can we use ASME VIII div 2 Design By Analysis criterion for Non Pressure Containing Equipment?

Hi All.
I am working on FEA problems in Pressure Vessel Industry. Most of the times my equipment are Pressure Containing. But sometimes I get problems which is just a loaded structure. I am confused how to assess the Stresses in the structure. Can I used BPVC ASME VIII div 2 Design by Analysis for those problems also?

This is very field industry specific - e.g., if one was constructing a steel/wooden building/house in Europe one would need to follow the Eurocode (3 for steel and 5 for wood), and of course not an ASME pressure vessel code.

So once you have a specific example/case that you are analysing, ask relevant designers and engineers related to your project, and they might give you some feedback on the particulars on the standards and codes that need to be followed.
