In UL 845 (Harmonized UL, ANCE and CSA LV MCC's Standars *US, Mexico & Canada*) states the following:

"5.3.1.2 In the United States, the supply rating of equipment that is marked to indicate it is suitable for use as service equipment, has provision for 2 watt-hour meters without provision for current transformers, and is provided with two main disconnects shall not be less than 50% of the sum of the continuous ampere range of the assembled meter positions. (See Annex G.) In Canada, this is not permitted."

In Canada if we required utility metering on a service greater than about 100 amps, we would install revenue class metering CT's and PT's. They would be suitable for 100% of the MCC load. We might add a second set of CT's and PT's if the customer / owner wanted metering for their own internal use. Can anyone familiar with the UL & NEC rules or utility connections experience shed some light on the meaning of the above paragraph?

Thanks from Canada.
