Hello,

I am using NX 7.5.2 and I have always been able to edit dimensions in the past, I select the edit appended text or MB3 and click to edit the text, then I delete out the dimension number and place in the datum I want the angle to display.

However, now, I can't do that, it gives me the same error as before, but it deletes out my datum, and replaces it with the original dimension

Are talking about editing the actual text of the dimension or text which has been appended to it? The title of this thread implies that you're talking about appended text yet your description of what you're attempting sounds like you;re trying to edit the numerical value of the dimension itself. So, which is it?

It is the actual text of the dimension. I have been able to edit it in the past.

Sorry, but you've NEVER been able to edit the actual text of a dimension by selecting it, pressing MB3 and using the 'Edit' option.

The way to edit the actual text of a dimension is to go to...

Edit -> Annotation -> Text...

...and select the dimension. Now you will be given the opportunity to edit the actual text of the dimension, replacing it with either a manually entered numerical value, a note, or some special symbol using the general Text Editor dialog.

I did it last week,

Edit -> Annotation -> Text double click MB1 on the dimension.

Or MB3-> Edit Text-> Double Click MB1 on dimension

Or Just click Edit Text button double click dimension.

You get a warning that reads "Dimension Value Associativity" "Editing the dimension value will convert the dimension to a dimension with manual text"

which is fine by me, I just want to change the text to read a datum call out instead of displaying the angle.

Anyway, that's not the point, the point is when I go to manually change the text regardless of the method, it keeps snapping back to the original dimension (60 degrees) I want to replace the 60 degrees with Datum Letter A or a note but it still returns to 60 degrees.

When you said "MB3 and click to edit the text", that is what I was responding to.

Anyway, I can use either...

Edit -> Annotation -> Text...

...or...

MB3 -> Edit Appended Text...

...or...

Edit Text -> MB1...

...and it works fine with no problems.

But I still don't quite understand what you're doing when you say...

"MB3 -> Edit Text -> Double Click MB1 on dimension"

As best as I can tell, this will take you into the 'Style' dialog.

If you click MB3 on the dimension and then MB1 you will get to the Text editor, if you double the annotation/dimension again, the text of the dimension/annotation will appear in text editor.

I have tried changing the text of the dimension all the ways you've mentioned, and it isn't working. So what could be causing it not to work?

Is there a preference or utility setting I need to change?

Nevermind, I just realized the person working on this detail earlier inserted sketch lines on the view, to get the angle dimension to work easily.

If it is even possible to change the dimension text on sketch lines created on the draft, please let me know. Otherwise, thanks for you help on this.

Note that I'm running NX 7.5.3.3, but I went back and checked NX 7.5.2.5 and it working fine as well.

I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything which would prevent this from working. You may wish to take this up with GTAC and see if they can help you find what's wrong.
