Cannot perform audit on drawing

One of the drafters at my place of employment cannot perform an audit on one of four drawings. He is running AutoCAD 2000i. When attempting to perform an audit on the drawing, the error message "ERROR: Could not instantiate AecDict" is displayed.

Strangely enough, he was able to perform the audit without difficulty on the other AutoCAD 2000i stations.

I am basically a tech support person and do not have much knowledge of AutoCAD. The only thing I can try is an uninstall followed by a reinstall of AutoCAD, which I'll probably do on Thursday. This is a new computer and AutoCAD was just installed today.

I appreciate any help given.

Just a shot in the dark ... "***AEC ***"
Do you have something else loaded with AutoCAD, like Architectural Desktop?
It almost sounds like the path hasn't been set properly to your network.
Since it's a new station, compare the search path to another "working" workstation. See if they match. If not, make them match and see if that works.

I may be wrong, but the only thing that is loaded with AutoCAD is Cadet, an old multi-line text editor. I don't think there's anything else loaded with it.

The AECdict error seems to be related to a "AEC dictionary".
Your CADET might not be totally uninstalled.

There might be some old batch file still running or some *.INI file left in the root which didn't get deleted.

I still think your best bet is to check the search paths.
If they're the same machine with the same Operating system then search path should be the same for all machines.
