Per the canopy section and one below,

Even the roofing material has to be non combustible???

8.14.7.3 Sprinklers shall be permitted to be omitted from

exterior exit corridors when the exterior walls of the corridor

are at least 50 percent open and when the corridor is entirely

of noncombustible construction.

The way I read it the answer would be yes, the roofing has to be non-combustible. Matter of fact this is pretty clear to me.

Sorry

Meant to say non combustible construction with say metal decking, but combustible roofing material on top of the metal decking??

So with the question

Metal decking,

But combustible material on top of the metal
Decking,,,

Still sprinkle the underneath ???

And even if the sides were open, no storage walk way

The word "entirely" tells me sprinkler protection is required.

As a spin to this, what about roof facades that are above the roof framing and sheeting. Are these considered part of the building to be protected.

I have a pre-school that has a tall facade that is about 3'-6' wide and above the roof sheating. I would say that these are more separated than a typical dormer type structure.

I believe you are out of the corridor and into something else.

Are they shown on the structural plan? I am assuming the pretty archtictural feature burns.

So, is the ROOF material Non?

A facade does not equal a canopy in my mind. Like MJ Willis said, it's a building beautification feature.

'...and when the corridor is entirely of noncombustible construction.' The corridor is not a canopy, therefore, the canopy mentioned in the OP should not apply.
