I am running an analysis in Explicit and can't seem to fix connector motion.
I have in the input file:
*CONNECTOR MOTION
axis_R_Hip_IE, 1
I have also tried
*CONNECTOR MOTION, FIXED, OP=NEW
axis_R_Hip_IE, 1
for a cylindrical connector defined like this:
*ELEMENT,TYPE=CONN3D2,ELSET=axis_R_Hip_IE
350, 350, 4
*CONNECTOR SECTION, ELSET=axis_R_Hip_IE
CYLINDRICAL,
axis_R_Hip_IE_ORI,
*ORIENTATION, NAME=axis_R_Hip_IE_ORI, DEFINITION=NODES
4, 5, 350

any ideas why I could still be getting motion? Thanks

Here are some potential reasons:
- you've run the analysis in single precision. try it with double precision. even the manual recommends this.
- unlike *Boundary a Connector Motion locks only one DOF per data line. Repeat the line to add other DOF.
- the forces are very high and the Penalty stiffness cannot completely eliminate the motion
