I am using AutoCAD LT 2000i with Windows XP Pro. Every time when I go to open a drawing, the default preview for 'Select File' is the Icon view. I can change this to 'Details" (which is what I want for a default) by clicking on 'Preview', and then 'Details', but the next time, it will be Icons again. In Windows Explorer, you can change this behavior by changing the Folder Options, but I can't figure out how to do this for AutoCAD.

Hi,

Maybe You can use these infos:
registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R15.0\ACAD-1:407\Profiles\acad\Username\Dialogs\file select]
"ViewMode"=dword:00000004

Values for "ViewMode":

2 ... Icon (in AutoCAD 2004, mayby the differ in 2002/2000)
3 ... List
4 ... Details

Thanks, Exxit, I will try it out.

I'm running MDT5.0 on Windows XP. Mainly using the ACAD 2000i aspect.

I tried the above work around, but with minimal success. It changes the 'open' views, but resets to the default "1" with-in a few open/saves.

Any further input would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

By the way, this wouldn't work for me also. There is no Viewmode line in the registry for AutoCAD. I wasn't sure if I could add it.

Thanks borgunit, any insight as to why it is "as designed"? I asked Autodesk and am awaiting their response.
