Can't open projects

Hi, hope someone can help.
I am new to Inventor 2010 but have used Inventor 8.
When trying to open project files using the 'browse' menu, some files will not open and seem to be ignored, and are not imported into the project file list.
Any advice would be appreciated.

They may be legacy Project File types like Multi User or Shared. There were turned off from use in newer version of Inventor due to the inclusion of the Vault. You could try and check the "enable legacy project files" radio button in the application options and see if this is the problem.
