Hi everyone

I have a simple assembly with 2 parts A & B. Part B was created in-context. Now I am trying to convert some entities on Part A so that I can project these entities on Part B and extrude. I go Edit Component, open a new skecth, but when I try to select entities I want to convert, it won't let me select those entities or any other entities on Part A.

Any suggestions why this could be happening? I am using SW2003.

Thanks to all readers.

One or more of the selected entities may not be able to be projected into the sketch plane.

My Assumption is that you are selecting two faces that share the same edge, or two seperate faces. This command will not work then. Only select one face at a time when using offset entities.

Try just selecting all the edges. And then use convert entities. If this still fails, convert each edge one at a time, the only reason this couldn't work would be the problem stated in the first line of the post.

A tip: make convert entities a shortcut key. I use Alt+Z and this makes things really fast when using your shift and control keys with the mouse buttons to control view. Convert enties is very useful for creating closed 3d sketches and using them to make a filled surface.

Another possibility is to check your assembly transparency settings. You may have the settings set to "force transparency" or something like that, which will make the other parts in the assembly unable to be selected while in edit mode. Switch to "maintain transparency" or whatever the opaque setting is (forgot what it's called) and see if you can select edges.

Thanks Rfus. I am trying to select the edges the right way but still doesn't work. In fact, none of the edges are selectable...I don't know why.
