How do I calculate the capacitance for a oil-filled transformer and power factor correction capacitor bank. Any reference to texts or IEEE standards will be helpful.
For a transformer, I don't think it's very straightforward. You need to know a lot about the design. Besides, capacitance is not a a design parameter. Usually designers can tell you about the turns ratio and impedance, but they need to measure capacitance.
For a capacitor you can do it. You know the voltage rating and the kvar rating.
Z = kV^2/kvar*1000
also
Z = 1/(2 pi f C)
These 2 equations can be used to calculate the capacitance in terms of the remaining factors.
