Hi all,

To start off, I should say that I am a rookie when it comes to laser cutting. I am trying to cut circular cross section holes in pharmaceutical capsules that are composed of gelatin or vegetable based materials. These holes would range in .032" to .05". Is this doable from a material and hole size standpoint? Can anyone point me toward products or references I could read up on? Any information is very much appreciated. Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thank you!

Is there anything leading you to believe it's not possible? I can cut 10mil holes all day in thin sheet material like that. Your application isn't exactly challenging...

Well, certainly you can make holes of that size.
? do these capsules have anything in them yet?
? are you cutting a hole in the side? is it ok to cut all the way through the other side?
? does it matter if you have some degradation of the material at the cut edge?

regards
Jay
