hi i d like to know about how i would model up laminates
and produce production drawings In ideas 11

Ineed to model the component but also be able to split it down to the individual ply layers and produce drawings of each ply for templating

any help would be appreciated i have searched the help and web for information but it seems to be geared more towards
fea of laminates not the actual production side of composites

thanks all#

To actually be able to separate each layer of the laminate out to create a template drawing then I can only think of modelling it as an assembly with each layer as it's own part.

One question though, are you going to create the model flat so that you get a true template or do you hope to model the laminate in its "formed" shape and then develop each layer to its flat template?

Thanks RCD just as I thought

i was hoping for a formed shape and then flatten as you would normally but some of the plys are non ruled surfaces and very curvy so it doesnt really lend itself to the method

however you have confirmed to me that the standart part and build assembly method was the way to do it
