I have check in API 650 for Tank Roof Types, An i found that only four types are available as per 650, ie:- Supported Cone Roof, Self Supported Cone Roof, Self supported dome roof, self-supporting umbrella roof and Aluminium Dome Roof. I didn’t find any design / details of Supported Dome Roof (Carbon Steel).

Anyone please shared some details for the above said issue. Which section of API 650 is providing details for Supported Dome Roof (Carbon Steel).

I don't believe the standard prohibits a supported dome (edited) roof, but doesn't address it, either, as that is a very uncommon option.
If the crown radius is taken very large, it can be constructed similar to a supported cone roof with similar slopes.
Otherwise, you have a couple of issues. One, the plate is stiff enough to support a lot of weight, and may not deflect with the structure as it would on a supported cone roof. Another issue, the regular steel design codes used for supporting structure may not adequately address the curved structure used in a supported dome roof. So you can calculate stresses, but may have difficulty determining an allowable stress for a given configuration.

This post should have been posted in the "Storage Tank Engineering" forum .....

I am a little confused... I thought that a "Self Supported Dome" roof was selected when you had a only a little bit of vapor pressure, liked the style, and the tank diameter selected enabled this economical construction.

If the tank diameter got too large for a dome , the best selection was a supported cone roof ...

A supported dome roof has all of the worst features of each type .... No ???

Can an experienced tank professional set us all straight ????????????????????????
