Hello,
I am reviewing a proposal to replace a 16" diameter nozzle with a 20" nozzle on a distillation column. The column has a carbon steel outer shell 39/64" thick, 316 SS clad liner 5/64" thick and then 904L strip lining 10 GA thickness. They are proposing to provide a carbon steel nozzle cladded with AL6XN, since it is more readily available then 904L. Are there any pro's or con's to this compared to a solid AL6XN nozzle? Is it preferable to avoid dissimilar material welding between the carbon steel shell and an AL6XN nozzle? Any other factors to consider? I am having difficulty locating material of construction information for the existing 16" nozzle.
Thank you,
Dee
