Carcinogenic fluids requires a lot of care during piping and equipment assembly as the fugitive emission test. Some approved equipment, valves may be very close among them and create a concentration of this fluid emission getting a not approved instalation. Does exist any society similar as OSHAS, Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, CGA that specify the equipment arrangments for these kind of fluids ? On steel mill coker instalation (a very hard construction) the emission tolerance is higher than in the chemical plants.

Toluene isn't a carcinogen. Benzene is. Toluene is flammable, and has toxicological hazards associated with it, but it isn't a known human carcinogen.

No organization is going to prescriptively tell you how to arrange your valves, what valves you can and cannot use etc. That's what engineers are for. People design piping systems for services far more hazardous than what you're describing, and do it successfully every day. I suggest you hire one of them.

Thanks for your reply moltenmetal, anyway and first to begin any job I am looking for a association or a society that specifies or have the best practices for these service. After this trial I may begin my point of view to do a safe lay-out including fugitive emission, aeration and so on.

If anyone knows of such an organization or document that will give you "best practices" information, I hope they will point you toward it. I've never seen one.

Dear All,
Thanks for your answers. Looking for a site of any organization that treats about the worker health in these kind of installations I found this OSHAS link: it is not everything that I need but it is a initial guide.
