I am in a position of continuing with structural consulting on custom homes or moving into the power distribution world. I would be designing sub-stations and maybe transmission lines.
The field interests me and it would be exciting to learn something new and it seems like it has long term stability. Although we all thought that about construction 4 years ago, too. I would have to give up working for myself, learn about working in a large company, and move my family.
My concern is that not working on buildings would hurt my ability to ever move back into that field.
I would really appreciate any insights people might have on their experiences and how their choices worked out for them.
Thanks,
