First you have to get the necessary visas and other official documentation to work in the US. This means a green card (since India is not a member of NAFTA) and it is usually difficult to obtain.

Google US immigration for a taste of the red tape involved.

Go to some CAD seminars and company job fairs. Find ways to talk to people at different companies to gain insight from what they are looking for. Talk to some counselers at colleges.

2. What is CAD Jockey .Can you please explain.

Also to get to US, only way is to Get a job and get the Visa and move in.
My issue is how can i search a job from India. It is the most difficult part i believe. Can any one suggest me some idea.

You may be able to find an agency who will find you a job.
Sometimes you can work in the US for a limited time on an H1B visa which is given for a skilled person when there is a shortage of a particular skill in the US.(The H1B is a temporary visa that allows technical specialists with at least a college degree to work up to six years in the US.The US embassy in India issued almost two-thirds of all H1B visas given worldwide in 2005.)

You must leave the country when the job is finished, unless you can secure another job. You can also apply for a green card when in the US

ziggi,

The answer is no. A Canadian engineer can work in the US under a work visa instead of a green card.

There are restrictions and limitations, as usual. However, a green card is not the only way.

I guess the hard question would be why would you want to move to the US? What is wrong with India? I was being sacastic with my reply. I'm not sure moving to the US will better you chances at success. If you know UG then why don't you set up a contract engineering house in India and advertise in the US. I've heard a lot of people on this site say that CAD work is going overseas. I don't see being a CAD draftsperson being a skill that's in short supply in the US but it's worth a try.

The best way to come to the US is to come here for higher studies on a student visa. Given the H1B quota reduction that US has done in the past year, even if you get a job in the US and the company is ready to sponser your visa, US consulate may reject the visa. I am not trying to be negative, just stating facts. Its all a matter of luck.

One can work in the US on a H1B visa for up to six years and in the meantime if your company applies for your green card, you can get one year extensions. I have been in the US for the past 5 years and have completed 3 years on H1B. As far as getting a job is concerned... I am sure in a place like Bangalore, there are constant recruitments going on... I am not sure if they are necessarily in your field.

Nothing is wrong in India.Lots of opportunities are here especially in Bangalore. I am working in permanent position in a good company. Still the greener pasture out there attracts me.
As Heckler said my next option is to get a part time CAD work from there , which i can execute from here and send back.
Can job agency get me a job there in US ?
