Couple months ago I've posted a question to narrow down career choices between the big 3 service companies.

Fortunately, now I have better options but I am still undecided and need your opinion.

My first offer is with an independent producer as assistant drilling engineer aka company man-in-training. The pay is average but the benefits and the schedule is fantastic (vehicle, gas, 1 week on 1 week off, etc).

My 2nd offer is with a top 3 service company as LWD field engineer in GoM. My goal is to transition to a major or a large independent either as a drilling engineer or petroleum engineer in 2 years. Which career path would be more rewarding or helping me to achieve my goal faster?

Thanks.

I would go with #1, as you mentioned potentially to be company man later. Also, you can switch to directional drilling, that is big $$$ usually.
Field engineer for big 3, not too much potential over there.
