Requesting assistance with the required fire protection of Carousel storage, Carousel itself is 5' in depth, 20' in width and approximately 25' in height. Would I simply apply IFC 903.3.3 for obstruction and have heads dropped into the tops of the carousels.

Specific requirements for carousel storage are presented in 2012 IFC Section 3209.3.

S. Stookey, Nice to hear from you, been awhile. The Carousel 5x20x25, total cubic 2500 sq/ft Enclosed vertical storage array.

Factory Mutual has a data sheet on this type of storage, free on the web site. It will give you the sprinkler requirements I assume FM conducted testing to come up with the criteria. Any insurance engineer for any company will reference this document since NFPA has no protection details. Make sure the carousel stops via water flow of the sprinklers

Listen to LCREP SDunham because I failed to mention NFPA 13 is silent on this. And for some unique reason, I have been lucky enough to use the FMDS on hanging garments twice in the past 9 months.

Thank you both, I couldn't find anything in NFPA 13 and didn't think to fall back on FM testing or data sheets. S Stookey, hopefully see you back at the hawkeye for BBQ
