What cast aluminum alloy and heat treatment would you recommend for a cast aluminum blower. The material thickness varies from about 1/2" to 3/16". The diameter range is 18" to 32" maximum. The operating speed is 3550 rpm. The blower impellers will operate at ambient temperatures in a non-corrosive environment. Some suppliers have suggested 319, 356-T6, A356-T6, A357-T61. I would appreciate your comments and/or recommendations and your reasoning for the selection.

A357 T6- typically i think would do the job, i feel that a357 in heat treated state would give a harder material, are you sand casting ?

typical properties for a357 are 330 uts 250 0.2 p/s and 5-10% elongation on a integral test piece.

I would recommend you specify 356/A356 or A357. 319 is typically used when higher temperature operation is a concern. A357 will have the highest strength.
