What is a good product for doing a cast and compare inspection? We have been using Dow 3112RTV and it works well for picking up detail and fast cure times but I am trying to find out about the percent shrinkage. Also seems to be difficult to find through any of the major distributors we currently use. I have looked into using GE's comprable product (RTV41) however they claim a .6% shrinkage rate. That is a bit more than I can use.

Would this be an application where you could use any of the "cerro" alloys? They are a low melt temp metal with virtually nil shrinkage. Gunsmiths use this stuff to make chamber casts, so it transfers detail, finish, and dimensions exceptionally well. You can buy the stuff off-the-shelf from McMaster-Carr. Good Luck.

I use "EXAFLEX". Dentist use it for making caps, crowns etc.
This stuff is a 2 part mixture and cures between 7-14 minutes. If you need information on this product let me know.
