hello everybody

is it possible to cast SA 516 Gr. 70?

No, not in the sense of being equivalent to this steel because SA 516 Grade 70 is a plate material specification. You can obtain carbon and low alloy steel castings that have a similar ultimate tensile strength and yield strength properties, but beyond this there is no direct cast grade.

Agree with metengr. Are you considering the mechanical properties or chemistry. Also, the plate material will not be isotropic, while the casting is in a practical sense.

By definition, it cannot be a cast material. Continuous cast slabs can be used, but they must be hot rolled to provide the final wrought plate materials.

ASTM/ASME standards for materials are specific to product form and hence manufacturing route.
