Cat C9 cooling

I want to set up a Caterpillar C9 engine with keel cooling (on a ship). Looking at the drawings of the engine it looks like there is an HT circuit (water in 2.5" dia., water out 2.5" dia.) and an aftercooler circuit...but the drawing only shows "Seawater Inlet 2" dia."

Does anyone know the setup for the cooling? Are there 2 engine-driven cooling pumps? Why is there no aftercooling water out connection?

One common setup uses two pumps:

The 'jacket water' pump runs glycol/water in a closed loop through the engine block and a heat exchanger. There's also an air separator/ reservoir and a pressure cap in the circuit somewhere.

The 'raw water' pump takes in seawater and pumps it through the aftercooler. The aftercooler discharges to the heat exchanger's seawater side. The heat exchanger's seawater side discharges into the exhaust gas stream through a 'wet' exhaust riser, or directly overboard if the exhaust is 'dry'.

Other variations, including keel cooling, are possible, and well documented by Caterpillar. Your engine distributor's applications engineer can bury you in documentation if he so chooses.

Setting up custom keel cooling on an engine such as the C-9 will depend upon the rating and the application.. Lower HP levels and low duty cycles may allow you to use used single flow circuits, but if you are asking fo higher output levels in the 50-60+ HP per liter range , you most likely will have to employ dual circuits and/or some "custom plumbing" , or larger keel coolers because of the turbo outout air temp that needs to be fed to the engine and for the cooling of the engine itself...

Is the engine you are looking at SWAC or JWAC in its stock configuration? What is the HP level and what is the exact application/duty cycle?? These would be the basics of what needs to be answered to get a more detailed answer..
