As similar to the thread above (there was never a follow up about it so it didn't help me), I have a CAT generator with an EMCP II Control Panel. It seems to work fine, but none of the buttons do anything. The phase select or meter read or fault buttons do nothing, even if the the fault light is on. I have tried this in both auto and manual modes. Any help would be really appreciated. I don't have anyway to connect to it with a computer but i could figure it out if really needed.
We have been having an issue with the breaker tripping when starting motors that we have had no problem starting in the past, but has also not tripped other times. Im trying to investigate everything i can before i have to change the breaker. Thanks!

Try turning the control switch to OFF/RESET and then removing battery power to the unit and leave disconnected at least 30 seconds, the reapply battery power and then turn control switch to STOP, and see if that brings your buttons back to life. If not likely your EMCP II has failed.

9 out of 10 times will clear up this problem, but sometimes does require a replacement of the panel.

Is the breaker tripping on it's own protections, or is it being tripped by the EMCP II?

Hope that helps, MikeL.

Thanks for the help! I turned it on off/reset and the turned off the switch at the batteries ( I assume this is the same as disconnecting them as it opens the negative line). I gave it 45seconds then turned the switch back and put it on cool down/stop and the screen came up but the buttons still did not work.

I can not tell what is going on with the breaker, thus why i am trying to get the control panel to work so i can see if i can get more info. The ammeter on the breaker itself doesn't seem to be working as well, and it has a rating plug (100) so i might try replacing that. It really should not be tripping, we have had the generator for years and test our machines that we build before we ship them and it has never gave us an issues, now it trips with the same machines, and when i had a gen tech out (not a great one btw) it started a machine right up multiple times lol.
